My guess yes. looks like a common Japanese tweeter in the center, but I think the original tweeter like that was from Poland.

I haven't had the opportunity to listen to the 409 series, but if you want to, I'd head up to Santa Barbara.
I liked them for car audio and used a pair in my old shop for FM radio. Since they're basically ceiling PA speakers designed to cut through a high noise ambient, there's no bass to speak of unless TL loaded and the tweeter needs shelving for most apps. FWIW, I recently recommended the EV 409 for an inexpensive in-wall mains + ceiling surrounds HT app, with separate sub system of course.

Not bad but needed a woofer for sure. I had the 409B's. My first Altec product.

OG do you mean the square tweeters between the 409's or the tweets in the 409's ? The Tweeter in the Coax 409's kind a look like the the tweeters in my Voice of the Highways.I think they are 1.75". Which is Japanese and which do you think is from Poland ?Originally Posted by Old Guy

I had ones from Poland early 60's and Radio Shack ones by Fostex in the 70's. Not bad from 7K up.
